Rouge CIA operative Tobin Frost (Denzel Washington) has just walked into a American Consulate in Cape Town, South Africa. Matt Weston a junior agent is the assigned "house keeper" of a CIA safe house, a secure facility suitable for hiding witnesses, agents or other persons perceived as being in danger or dangerous. The past and present of the CIA will meet head to head; are they both members of the same team or circumstantial adversaries?
"No one is safe" and no one can be trusted!!!
"Safe House" delivers intensity and is action packed from start to finish. Denzel Washington's portrayal of Tobin Frost is amazing, and to my surprise Reynolds (Matt Weston) does not disappoint in his co-starting role. The film is slick and creative and gives the standard CIA thriller a new perspective. There is not a moment wasted, as the entire 1 hour and 55 min run time is used to develop a simple story into something much much more.
This film delivers thrills, dynamic action sequences, and is clever all the way up to the final moments; but the ending leaves something to be desired. Overall, I would suggest this to my friends but only at the matinee price.
I rated this 7 out of 10.
